CPE Wi-Fi Senior Engineer - Contract

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

q  Own the CPE platform Wi-Fi sign-off and component validation of supplier deliveries of Wi-Fi hardware, hub firmware and Wi-Fi drivers for new hub developments and existing hub product updates.

q  Play a leading role in the formation and running of a CPE ‘Wi-Fi virtual expertise team’. Ensure Wi-Fi skills are developed and test execution is distributed amongst the wider team.

q  Contribute to the Wi-Fi works future strategy - a leading role in test capabilities, debugging and sign-off process improvements

q  Deliver key aspects of wireless activities on Telco’s RFI, RFP and ITT processes for consumer CPE; including the evaluation of vendor solutions for product fit, quality and compliance to requirements.

Skills/Experience:

q  Extensive hands-on technical experience of CPE device validation and test plan development and execution.

q  Extensive hands-on technical experience of Wi-Fi PHY and MAC performance validation and troubleshooting.

q  Knowledge of Wireless key performance indicators, and how these can be used to determine end customer wireless performance.

q  Experience of Wireless testing techniques covering – functional testing, non-functional testing such as performance, reliability, interoperability.

q  Knowledge of key Wireless standards, particularly key 802.11 standard and Wi-Fi Alliance certification programmes.

q  Experience in delivering the Wireless/Wi-Fi elements of CPE, preferably consumer focussed.

q  Strong communicator able to distil complicated topics into clear and simple recommendations and guidance a range of hub project stakeholders.

q  Ability to complete project deliverables in challenging timescales.

q  Strong vendor management skills; an ability to evaluate and question vendor proposals and drive strategic change into vendors in respect to Wireless technologies.

q  Understanding of current Wi-Fi technology implementations in both CPE and device space, and future trends.

q  Testing automation scripting languages, python, TCL

q  Test Lead experience

q  Ability to work under broad direction and take accountability for their own deliverables

q  Identifying test resources and building into Test plan

q  Test management skills, defect identification and resolution

q  Test documentation creation, Test Plans, Test Reports

q  Working with external vendors

Qualifications:

q  Likely to have relevant, contemporary and industry recognised qualifications appropriate to the specific function.

q  Likely to have a degree qualification (engineering/science) in relevant telecoms/wireless/radio domain.  MSc in telecoms/Wireless domains desirable.
